Shehroze Kashif on his Everest Dream
Everest? Impossible! You are just 19!
That was the first reaction of almost everyone around me when I blurted out my childhood passion couple of years back.
When I hear all say ‘stay safe man!, it’s like a sarcastic remark with undertone: DON’T RISK YOUR LIFE YOU FOOLLL, YOU ARE JUST 19!!
My idea of summiting the Everest at 19 is something that made all raise their eyebrows. But who can change destiny?
Fortunately, few did support me and showed trust in me. That was pretty enough to fuel my passion and helped me stand firm to achieve my goal. Youngest Pakistani on EVEREST!
Among my biggest supporters was my family.
The idea to climb to Everest became planted in my mind since I was a child.
Now after around 10 years, my dream is about to become a reality. Yes, I am all prepared to raise the Green Flag on top of the tallest mountain in the world!
I cannot thank my family enough, my dad in particular, for supporting my passion since my childhood.
I believe you cannot do anything in life if your family does not support. I have been extremely lucky that my family has always supported all my dreams no matter how crazy they were!
Particularly, in Pakistan, youngsters climbing mountains is not something that our parents approve of. Unlike most dads, my father never stopped me from dreaming big and impossible.
He not only encouraged me to listen and follow the voice of my heart, but also did everything possible to make sure there is no distance between me and Everest!
He nurtured my love for mountaineering and for Everest as well every step of the way. Without his backing I would definitely not be here!
And, the super brave lady of our home, my mom, has always been the motivation powerhouse. She has encouraged and supported me since my childhood. Her confidence in me is always astonishing.
