The first PIA plane flying from Lahore received a warm welcome from Water Cannon on landing at Skardu Airport. The flight had 153 passengers on board. The Lahore-Skardu route will have two weekly flights, which will boost tourism in the region. Lahore to Skardu PIA flight was a long awaited dream of the locals.
This direct flight facility has now brought Skardu so close to Lahore and it would not be wrong to say that it would take as much time to fly from Skardu to Lahore as it would take from Skardu to Shigar by road. 1 hour 15 minutes

He further added that, ‘Inshallah, I promise to take the tourism sector of Gilgit-Baltistan to new heights during my tenure as Tourism Minister.’ Lahore to Skardu PIA flight gives some hope of becoming Skardu airport (named after national hero Muhammad Ali Sadpara Airport) to facilitate international flights from July this year. Aviation spokesperson already revealed this news earlier in February. This prime aim of the prime minister of Pakistan is to promote the tourism industry of Gilgit Baltistan. GB has the highest potential for tourism, which is currently one of the largest money-making industries around the globe. This positive move will help to overcome the economical depth as well to raise the living standards of the locals.
