General Qamar Javed Bajwa will be retired from office on November 12, 2022. Some source states that the next COAS will be from apolitical background to remain the military neutrality stance in the country’s politics.
The selection of the military chief followed the ministry of a defense’s request for the names from GHQ. GHQ usually shares three names with the defense ministry and then they will forward it to the prime minister of Pakistan. The final selection of the chief will be done by the prime minister office.
